Sevier County approves additional $140,000 for Health Department renovation; total county contribution rises to $327,000

Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter told the board the bid left a $272,000 shortfall against the project estimate. The state will add funds and asked the county to provide an additional $140,000 to help close the gap; the county’s new contribution total was stated as $327,000. Director Andrew Temple described the renovation work focused on the second floor, including updates to nurse stations and adding a dental area intended to support hiring a full-time dentist for Sevier County.
The motion to approve the county contribution passed by roll call vote 24 Yes, 0 No, 1 Absent.
