Sevier County steering committee elects Ray Ogle chairman, confirms committee appointments

The Sevier County Board of Commissioners steering committee met on Nov. 13, 2023, and unanimously approved a slate of procedural actions, including confirming committee appointments and electing new officers.
Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m. and presented Resolution 2023-11-03, which would confirm the county commissioners' assignments to committees. Commissioner Ronnie Allen moved to approve the resolution and Commissioner Carroll Rauhuff seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
During the opening business the committee nominated officers. Commissioner Ronnie Allen nominated Commissioner Ray Ogle for chairman; Commissioner Carroll Rauhuff seconded and the nomination was approved unanimously. Commissioner Harold Pitner nominated Director Andrew Temple to serve as secretary; Commissioner Rauhuff seconded and the nomination was approved unanimously.
The committee also approved the Board of Commissioners' final agenda for the Nov. 20 meeting after a motion by Commissioner Rauhuff and a second from Commissioner Aaron Foster. The steering committee voted unanimously to move the Dec. 18, 2023 Board of Commissioners meeting to 5:00 p.m., cancel the January 2024 meeting, and cancel the February 2024 meeting contingent on a meeting not being necessary in February.
Vice Mayor McCarter provided an update on a proposed hiring of a lobbyist firm to represent Sevier County; the transcript records the update but no formal hiring motion or contract award was recorded during this meeting.
