Adams County commissioners heard an update on Phase 2 of the Othello broadband project and authorized an amendment to extend a related interlocal telecommunications agreement.
Interim Public Works Director Yaeger told the board that a pre-construction meeting for Phase 2 was held and that the contractor is scheduled to start work Jan. 30, 2026, with a projected completion by the end of July 2026. Yaeger and Assistant Director Reynolds also briefed the board on routine maintenance work, including salt brine preparations, mowing, ditching and culvert repairs in the county's three public works districts.
Separately, the board unanimously authorized Chairman Dan C. Blankenship to sign Amendment No. 1 to the Interlocal Agreement for Telecommunications Services among Perichor Broadband, LLC, Whitman County and Adams County. The amendment extends the agreement's expiration date from Dec. 31, 2024, to Dec. 31, 2026; all other terms remain in effect. The motion to authorize the chairman to sign was moved by Vice‑Chairman Miguel A. Garza and seconded by Commissioner Jay R. Weise and was recorded as carried unanimously.
Engineer Yaeger also reported ongoing work and safety projects on several county roads. No public comment on the broadband project or the amendment was recorded during the meeting.
