Adams County commissioners approve routine agenda, consent items and construction contracts; direct small budget reduction

The Adams County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 6 approved routine and project items, including the daily agenda, consent agenda, payroll and vouchers, and multiple contract actions. Vice-Chairman Miguel A. Garza moved to approve the agenda and consent agenda; Commissioner Jay R. Weise seconded both motions and the board carried them.
The board approved payroll for Dec. 1-15, 2025 totaling $559,782.08 and benefits of $85,288.20, and certified vouchers across county funds totaling $187,473.21 (fund 001: $113,157.88; fund 104: $21,719.27; fund 590: $11,543.42, among others). Minutes for several December 2025 meetings and permanent minutes for October and November 2025 dates were signed.
On Public Works items, the board authorized the chairman to sign Supplemental Professional Services Agreement #1 with Nichols Kovich Engineering, PLLC, for construction-phase services on the Sackman Road Bridge #411-3 Reconstruction Project (CRP-201) in the amount of $47,344.78. The board also approved a Memorandum of Understanding and Agreement for Professional Services between AHBL, Inc., and Adams County for Building and Planning work as listed on the consent agenda.
During budget review, the commissioners instructed staff to reduce Fund #005 in the 2026 budget by $21,608. The board also met briefly with Washington State Senator Mark Schoesler to discuss county matters prior to the legislative session. The meeting included multiple executive and closed sessions under the cited RCWs to review employee performance and bargaining strategy; no public action resulted from those sessions.
