Franklin County legislative committee elects Eldridge, approves series of road-list resolutions

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners Legislative Committee elected David Eldridge as chairman for 2020–22 and unanimously approved a package of resolutions revising the county’s road lists during a Nov. 24, 2020 meeting in the Large Community Room at the Franklin County Annex Building.
Committee member Carolyn Wiseman moved to elect David Eldridge chairman; Scottie Riddle seconded the motion, which passed on a unanimous vote. Wiseman later moved to approve the minutes of the committee’s Oct. 8, 2020 meeting; that motion also passed unanimously.
The committee approved a string of resolutions to be forwarded to the full commission. Motions approved included a general set of road changes to the Franklin County road list; corrections to Evans Road and Evans Drive; adding Matthew Branch Road to the county road list; and adding Last Stop Lane and Bootleggers Lane to the private road list. Members also approved deleting several roads from the county list and adding Gor-Mae Lane and Fairbanks Circle to the private road list, and approved a separate resolution making various other road-list changes described in an attached document. All motions were moved and seconded during the meeting and each passed on an all-ayes vote.
Committee members also voted to set the 2021 Legislative Committee to meet one hour before the Finance Committee (motion moved by Scottie Riddle and seconded by Greg King; motion carried). Johnny Hughes moved, and Carolyn Wiseman seconded, a referral of 20 notary applications to the full commission; that motion likewise passed unanimously.
Scottie Riddle moved to adjourn the meeting, Greg King seconded, and the committee adjourned following an all-ayes vote. The minutes record the meeting as called to order at 5:00 p.m.; the minutes are signed "Respectfully submitted, Eldridge" and include a note reading "Date Approved: 1-5-20," which appears inconsistent with the Nov. 24, 2020 meeting date shown at the top of the minutes.
The actions taken at this meeting were procedural and were forwarded to the full Franklin County Commission for final consideration where noted.
