Franklin County committee approves road-list changes and backs 20 mph speed limit for Bluff Park

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners Legislative Committee on Oct. 8 approved several procedural items and voted to forward a proposal to lower the speed limit on Bluff Park to the full commission.
Chairman David Eldridge presided over the meeting in the Large Community Room at the Franklin County Annex Building. Commissioner Johnny Hughes moved to approve the minutes of the Sept. 10, 2020 meeting; Commissioner Barbara Finney seconded, and the committee voted All Ayes. The motion carried.
The committee next considered a resolution to update the county road list. Commissioner Barbara Finney moved to approve and send the resolution to the full Commission; Commissioner Hughes seconded. The committee recorded a unanimous vote in favor and carried the motion.
On an amendment linked to that resolution, Commissioner Johnny Hughes moved to specify a lower speed limit for Bluff Park. Hughes’s motion would modify the resolution to set the Bluff Park speed limit at 20 miles per hour and forward the change to the full Commission; Commissioner Finney seconded. The committee again voted All Ayes, approving the modification to be sent for full-commission consideration.
Finally, Commissioner Hughes moved to forward ten notary applications to the full Commission; Commissioner Finney seconded. The committee voted unanimously to send the applications to the full body for action.
All recorded committee votes were unanimous among the three members present — Chairman David Eldridge, Commissioner Barbara Finney and Commissioner Johnny Hughes — and each approved item will be considered by the full Franklin County Commission at a later date.
