Franklin County legislative committee forwards road-name change and notary applications; seeks more information on refugee resettlement resolution

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners Legislative Committee met on Jan. 9, 2020, in Conference Room 204 at the courthouse. Chairman David Eldridge called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and recorded members Carolyn Montoye, Johnny Hughes, David Eldridge and Chuck Stines as present; Secretary Heather Morgan and Mayor David Alexander also attended.
The committee approved the Nov. 21, 2019 minutes after a motion from Committee member Chuck Stines and a second from Johnny Hughes; the vote was recorded as "all ayes." Stines then moved to send a resolution to the full commission to approve a road-name change from Chew Lane to Stratton Lane (single owner); the motion was seconded by Wiseman and forwarded with a recorded vote of "All Ayes." Wiseman later moved to send four notary applications to the full commission, a motion seconded by Hughes and likewise recorded as approved "All Ayes." These administrative items were forwarded to the full commission for final action.
Mayor David Alexander presented a letter to the committee concerning the Resettlement Act of Refugees in Tennessee. Following discussion, committee members asked for additional information and requested that a resolution be drafted for consideration at the committee's March meeting. Mayor Alexander stated he would prepare the requested information for that session.
The meeting concluded when Stines moved to adjourn, Hughes seconded, and the committee adjourned by unanimous recorded vote.
The items forwarded to the full commission include the road-name-change resolution and the four notary applications; the refugee resettlement item remains at the information-gathering stage, with a resolution to be drafted and brought back in March.
