Commission approves updates to county road list and adds multiple private roads

Franklin County's legislative body approved a package of road-list and private-road changes at the Sept. 16 meeting, adopting multiple resolutions to add private lanes, change road specifications and restore a previously removed road.

The approvals include additions to the county's private-road list such as Clark Acres Lane, Hollow Wood Lane, Back Forty Lane, Hilltop Lane, Summers Farm Lane, Mud Lane, Hollow Wood Lane, Raven Hill Lane, New Heritage Lane, Raven Hill Lane and others cited in agenda resolutions. The commission also restored Beth Page Road to the official county road list (it had been removed in error) and approved a small log-mile and right-of-way correction for Norris Lane.

The Road & Bridge Committee recommended the changes and the commission adopted the measures unanimously. The resolutions instruct that the approved additions and changes be filed with the county clerk and the Franklin County E-911 addressing commission; cartographic map pages were part of the packet.

Commissioners and highway staff described these as technical and administrative updates to ensure accurate addressing for emergency response and consistent maintenance classification. The packet includes start and end points, E-911 grid references and class/width specifications for each road element.

The commission also approved the 2024 Franklin County Road List, which consolidates the year's updates and provides updated mileage and classification data for submission to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Highway Department staff will file the updated lists with county offices and E-911 so mapping and emergency-response databases reflect the changes.
