Two members of the Franklin County Commission submitted written resignations that the commission received in the meeting packet and by letter.
Commissioner David Eldridge (Dist. 7) wrote that on June 20 he relocated within Franklin County from his 7th District address to a property in District 1. Per county practice and CTAS guidance cited in his letter, that change of primary residence disqualified him from serving as the 7th District commissioner; Eldridge stated he was resigning effective immediately.
Commissioner Monica Baxter Jeffers submitted a separate letter stating she was resigning her commission seat effective July 31, 2024 because she was elected to serve as Franklin County Property Assessor. Jeffers thanked colleagues and said she looks forward to serving the county in the assessor role.
The letters were received into the county record. The commission will follow statutory and local procedures to fill the resulting vacancies for Districts 7 and 1/7 depending on certification and timing of the departures. The minutes show the resignations were placed in the file and noted by the County Mayor’s office for follow‑up on appointment/election timing.
