The Dickson County Commission on Jan. 22, 2024 in Charlotte unanimously approved a slate of resolutions that updated county land-use rules, adjusted budgets for emergency medical services and school funds, authorized a 25-acre land purchase and cleared the way to apply for a state transportation planning grant.
The commission approved Resolution 01-2024-01 to amend multiple sections of the county Zoning Resolution (Article V, Sections 5.013–5.016). The board took the vote after a motion from Commissioner Ray Ledger and a second from Commissioner Cindi Gray; the minutes record the measure passed by a unanimous aye voice vote. The zoning amendments were presented as part of the regular agenda and no public comments were recorded on the item.
Commissioners also accepted the 2024 Dickson County Road Report via Resolution 01-2024-02 (motion by Commissioner Becky Spicer, seconded by Commissioner Carl Buckner) and approved Resolution 01-2024-03 to authorize certain amendments to the Dickson County EMS budget within the county General Fund (Fund 101) (moved by Commissioner Rusty Grove; seconded by Commissioner Jody Britt). Separately, the commission authorized amendments to the county’s school-related funds (Resolution 01-2024-04; moved by Commissioner Danny Williams; seconded by Commissioner Cindi Gray).
On another agenda item, the commission authorized by resolution the purchase of approximately 25 acres identified as Map 119, Parcel 033.15 from Dal-Tile at $1,750.00 per acre, subject to the Industrial Development Board’s consent and cooperation. That authorization was approved following a motion by Commissioner Rusty Grove and a second by Commissioner Jody Britt.
The commission briefly suspended its rules to consider a transportation-planning item and then approved Resolution 01-2024-06, authorizing the county to apply for and accept a Tennessee Department of Transportation Transportation Planning Grant in the amount of $200,000 with a 10% local match. The motion to authorize the application was moved by Commissioner Dwight McIllwain and seconded by Commissioner Randy Simpkins; the minutes record a unanimous aye voice vote.
