Claiborne County Commissioners on Dec. 21, 2020 approved multiple budget-related resolutions covering juvenile detention costs, a school grant carryover and a small cultural contribution.
Resolution 2020-107 (moved by Commissioner Zach Mullins) authorizes a $10,000 amendment to the Juvenile Court budget to cover increased contracted services for housing juveniles. The county’s text states one juvenile has been housed since Sept. 25 and another since Nov. 17; current billing already exceeds $6,000.
Resolution 2020-108 (moved by Commissioner Shawn Peters) adds a $10,979.69 carryover from a 2019–20 Civics Mini-Grant to the General Purpose Budget; the resolution directs $10,179.69 to instructional supplies (account 71100/429) and $800 to staff development (account 72210/524) and notes the funds do not involve local tax dollars.
Resolution 2020-109 (moved by Commissioner Mitchell Cosby) authorizes a $1,600 charitable contribution from the General Fund undesignated balance to match Lee County’s $1,600 donation for a Between the Trees Music project to record and press 1,000 CDs featuring regional musicians. Each resolution passed by recorded or unanimous voice vote as reflected in the minutes.
The minutes list sponsors and signatures for each resolution but do not include further implementation schedules or detailed line-item budgetary analyses in the public record of the meeting.
