Commission approves county road list, adds Wylie Lane extension and authorizes health-department traffic improvement

The Claiborne County Commission on Jan. 25 approved several road and access measures. Resolution 2021-002 adopted the county's 2021 road list as required by state law; the motion passed by roll call vote 20-0.
Following that vote, commissioners approved Resolution 2021-003 to extend the county-maintained portion of Wylie Lane in the sixth district from 2/10 of a mile to 3/10 of a mile after property owners on the additional segment signed agreements to include their portion in county maintenance. Commissioner Steve Mason moved the resolution; the roll call was 20-0.
Separately, the commission approved Resolution 2021-006 authorizing collaboration between the Claiborne County Road Department and the Claiborne County Health Department to construct a gravel drive allowing traffic to circle the Health Department building for COVID-19 testing and vaccination traffic flow. Road Superintendent Ronnie Pittman told the commission his department would waive the labor and track-material costs for the gravel drive. Commissioners amended the resolution to ask that blacktop improvement be considered in the FY2021–22 budget; the amended resolution passed 20-0.
The votes formalize the road-list update and county maintenance commitment to Wylie Lane and provide authority for the Road Department to proceed with the Health Department drive; the commission did not approve immediate blacktop work but directed budget consideration for next fiscal year.
