The Cumberland County Commission voted Jan. 21 to tentatively add 0.63 miles (3,315 feet) of Grapevine Road to the official county road list, contingent on residents making improvements to meet county road standards.
Commissioner Jack Davis moved to adopt Resolution 01-2025-19 and Commissioner Joseph Sherrill seconded the motion; the measure carried by unanimous voice vote. During discussion, Mayor Pro-Tem Terry Lowe said he would donate one month of his commission wages to help residents bring the road up to the standards set by the Cumberland County Road Department.
Separately, the commission adopted Resolution 01-2025-5 to remove approximately 4,552.13 feet from the end of Nature's Way from the official county road list and later approved the 2025 Cumberland County Road List with other changes.
