Commission approves equipment leases, surveillance contract and multiple budget amendments

The Carter County commission approved a series of budget and equipment actions on Jan. 21, including a 3-year lease for a Gradall XL4100V from NCL Government Capital, a countywide surveillance contract for the sheriff’s office, and multiple routine budget amendments.
Budget Chair Robert Acuff moved to accept a 3-year lease for a Gradall XL4100V with annual payments of $184,558.11 and a total financed amount of $597,500. The motion passed by voice vote.
The Financial Management Committee asked the board to approve a two-year contract with Flock Safety for $100,400 so the sheriff’s office can use the Flock Safety statewide camera system; the motion passed with 22 yes votes and one no (Aaron Frazier recorded the lone no vote).
The commission also approved transfers and amendments: Solid Waste director salary and benefits transferred to the Planning Department ($16,881.85); County Fund Budget Amendment 101-6 ($85,107.29); Highway Fund Budget Amendment 131-4 ($14,386.26) funded in part from the Highway Department’s unassigned fund balance; School Federal Projects Fund amendments ($262,827.67); and acceptance of animal shelter monetary ($6,070) and non-monetary ($395) donations. Multiple motions were passed by voice vote as recorded in the meeting minutes.
Separately, the board approved vehicle transfers (including moving a 2010 Dodge Charger to Johnson County) and directed EMA to reclaim a vehicle transferred without proper documentation; that latter motion passed 22–1.
