On personnel and recognition items, the commission approved bonuses tied to the jail’s Tier 1 accreditation: leadership bonuses (Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeants) totaling specified amounts and across‑the‑board smaller bonuses for other jail staff; the County Fund amendment to cover $17,950 of those bonuses passed 22–0. The commission accepted $2,050 in monetary and $320 in non‑monetary donations for the animal shelter; both motions passed unanimously.
Financial management committee actions included the county’s shift in health‑insurance carriers and adoption of a provision assessing a 10% surcharge on the employee portion of premiums for covered employees who do not complete an annual preventative care exam (policy effective procedures and implementation timeline were included in a written notice distributed to elected officials and department heads). The commission also approved an AIA contract with Burleson Construction Company, Inc. for project management of the Hampton High School restoration.
