Consultant previews Tweetsie Trail designs; county to hold public meetings

David Craig of Ross/Fowler, P.C. presented an update at the request of the Financial Management Committee and walked commissioners through the sections of the trail plan. Craig said public meetings will be scheduled to gather input and asked commissioners to submit any outstanding questions in writing to Mayor Patty Woodby, who will obtain written responses for the commission.
Commissioners expressed concern about rising project costs. Commissioner Brad Johnson asked that a packet of information be provided to each commissioner for review; Craig said he would supply those materials. County officials noted the project will take years to complete and that public involvement is part of the planning process.
The presentation did not include a formal vote. The commission did not finalize design choices at the meeting; next steps are expected to include public meetings and follow-up materials from the consultant.
