The Carter County Board of Commissioners appointed William Bridger to fill the 5th District vacancy and he was sworn in during the board’s Nov. 17 regular session.
Commissioner Charlene Thomas nominated Bridger; Aaron Frazier moved to cease nominations and Lesley Hughes seconded, and the board elected Bridger by acclamation. A voice vote recorded 18 yes and 2 no votes (Nick Holder and Danny Deal opposed). Mayor Patty Woodby administered the oath and Bridger took his seat as 5th District commissioner.
The appointment followed routine roll call and earlier business on the agenda. No further conditions or contingencies for the appointment were announced during the meeting.
The commission adjourned at 8:21 PM; Bridger’s swearing-in was recorded on the public minutes for Nov. 17, 2025.
