Board approved kennel permit; zoning revision tabled and dangerous-dog ordinance update underway, commission told

Staff reported that the Board of Supervisors approved Mr. Runkle’s Kennel Conditional Use Permit, tabled a proposed zoning ordinance change concerning sun shelters on piers, and instructed the county attorney to update the dangerous dog ordinance to align with state code.
At the Dec. 18 Planning Commission meeting staff reported several actions and staff tasks from the Board of Supervisors.
County Planner Stuart McKenzie told the commission that the Board approved the Conditional Use Permit for Mr. Runkle’s kennel in Lottsburg. He said a separate zoning ordinance amendment regarding sun shelters on piers was tabled after supervisor concerns about potential proliferation of such structures along inland creeks.
McKenzie also reported that the County Attorney is working to update the county’s dangerous dog ordinance to resolve terms that do not match state code and to make other necessary updates.
Chairman Parker and commissioners received the report; no formal Planning Commission action was recorded on these items at the Dec. 18 meeting.
