Tazewell County IDA re-elects chair and officers, keeps monthly meeting schedule

The Industrial Development Authority of Tazewell County re-elected Kyle Hurt as chair and reconfirmed its slate of officers at a meeting July 9 in Tazewell.
The vote, conducted after attorney Brad Pyott presided pro tempore for the election, returned Darrell Addison as vice-chair, Melanie Protti-Lawrence as treasurer and Ashley Harris as recording secretary. The board also voted to keep regular meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 2:00 p.m. and to continue following Roberts Rules of Order for meeting procedure.
The reorganization began when Mr. Pyott, acting as temporary chair because the sitting chair was a nominee, opened nominations. "Nominations are not open for the role of Chairman for the Authority at this time," Pyott said while managing the process; Mrs. Melanie Protti-Lawrence moved to nominate Kyle Hurt, and the board carried the motion. Subsequent nominations and votes for vice-chair, treasurer and recording secretary were made and adopted without opposition.
The re-elected officers will serve until the Authority’s next reorganization unless otherwise changed by the board. The board’s secretary, Ashley Harris, will continue to serve as recording secretary and to manage meeting minutes and finance summaries.
The meeting was called to order at 2:08 p.m. and adjourned with the next regular meeting set for 2:00 p.m. on Aug. 13, 2025.
