EDC approves MapHub business package and adds $240 to FY2027 budget; staff to explore payment options

The Northumberland County Economic Development Commission approved buying the MapHub Business Package and amended its FY2027 budget to include the $240 annual cost at its Jan. 21 meeting.
EDC staff reported that the current MapHub map contains about 166 items, exceeding the platform’s 100-item no-cost tier. The commission considered four options — reducing items to 100, purchasing the Business Package ($240/year), purchasing a Hobbyist Package ($96/year), or pursuing an alternate platform — and voted to purchase the Business Package.
Commissioners also discussed payment methods. The minutes note county policy discourages credit-card use; the Executive Director was authorized to explore ACH, PayPal or other county-approved payment mechanisms and to coordinate with county staff on implementation.
As a result of the decision, the EDC amended its FY2027 budget to include the MapHub contract and the $240 expense; the motion carried unanimously per the minutes. The Executive Director will add the MapHub contract to budget documentation and report back to the commission.
The action aims to keep the EDC’s public-facing map intact without removing listed businesses and attractions; staff will continue to seek a payment method that complies with county policy before finalizing purchasing arrangements.
