Bland County supervisors approve payrolls, school requisition, appropriations, resolutions and a $12,000 VDEM 911 grant

The Bland County Board of Supervisors approved its consent agenda covering payroll and vendor payments, appropriated school and social services funds, reimbursed the Ceres Alumni Association, adopted a Fair Housing resolution and appointment, approved service authority agreements, adopted a water-supply planning resolution, and accepted $12,000 in VDEM 911 grant funding.
Bland County supervisors on April 22 approved a package of routine and consequential administrative actions including payroll and vendor payments, budget appropriations, multiple resolutions and a VDEM grant.
The board approved its consent agenda, which included payroll issued March 31 ($145,248.68) and April 16 ($137,449.58); vendors' bills for March ($107,062.88) and April ($354,144.69); and reports from county offices. The board also appropriated the Bland County School Board's May 2025 requisition for $1,141,146.10 and appropriated $15,731.62 for Social Services' February 2025 local allotment. The consent agenda motion was made by Supervisor Stephen Kelley and seconded by Patrick Groseclose; a roll call vote recorded all supervisors voting yea.
Separately, the board approved a $2,697.56 reimbursement from the General Fund to the Ceres Alumni Association for expenses at Ceres School. The board also adopted a resolution for Local & Regional Water Supply Planning and authorized staff to pursue the related application for FY25.
The board adopted a Fair Housing Resolution and appointed Cicely Dunford as Fair Housing Officer. It approved a resolution of support and a support agreement between Bland County and the Service Authority. The board also approved and appropriated FY26 VDEM 911 grant funds totaling $12,000.
Chair Randy Johnson recessed the meeting to reconvene on April 25, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
