The Tazewell County Planning Commission voted 4–0 on April 13 to approve an amendment to the erosion and sediment (E & S) plan for Maybrey's Meadows Mitigation Bank, a project on Apostolic Drive in Dry Fork.
Mike Rogers of 3B Consulting said the amendment combines two previously separate areas of the existing E & S project and adds a road and associated piping. Kenneth Dunford Jr., director of county engineering, told the commission he had no concerns with the amendment and recommended approval. County Attorney Chase Collins likewise reported no legal concerns.
"It is a continuation of the existing project being amended for the road and piping," Rogers said during the presentation. Dunford noted the amendment is awaiting Virginia Department of Environmental Quality review and that DEQ approval could take up to two months.
Member Hayden Lyons moved to approve the amendment; Vice Chairman Robert "Bob" Moss seconded the motion. By a vote of 4–0, with Members Maggie Asbury, Darrell Addison and Jason Herndon absent, the commission approved the amendment to the E & S Plan for Maybrey's Meadows Mitigation Bank.
The commission did not attach additional conditions at the meeting. The board set no further local deadlines; staff noted the DEQ review remains outstanding. The commission adjourned at approximately 8:10 p.m.; its next regular meeting is scheduled for May 11, 2023.
