Tazewell County CPMT approves minutes, financials and funding authorizations; certifies closed meeting

The Tazewell County Community Policy and Management Team on Jan. 22 approved routine governance and financial items and authorized funding for child-welfare cases following a closed-session review.
The meeting record shows Jeff Brintle moved to approve the Dec. 18, 2023 CPMT minutes; Robin Jackson seconded and the motion passed. Brintle also moved to approve the Dec. 31, 2024 financial report; Robin Jackson seconded and the motion passed. Robin Jackson moved to approve encumbered WRAP funds for the period 07-01-2023 to 06-30-2024; Melinda Smith seconded and the motion passed. Jeff Brintle moved to approve the Dec. 31, 2023 Safe & Stable funds; Roberta Boyd seconded and the motion passed.
Robin Jackson made a motion that the CPMT go into closed session to discuss foster-care, CPS, Cumberland, Court Services and Tazewell County Schools cases and funding; Shanna Plaster seconded and the motion carried. The CPMT certified the closed meeting under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (Code of Virginia §§2.2-3711 and 2.2-3712); the recorded vote was AYES 9, NAYS 0, ABSENT 2 (Parent Representative vacant; Arlene Matney absent).
After returning to open session, Ryan Thomas moved and Shanna Plaster seconded a motion to approve funding for services for Foster Care, CPS, Cumberland, Court Services, and Tazewell County Schools case needs; the motion was unanimously carried. Robin Jackson moved to return to open session; Roberta Boyd seconded and that motion passed. Melinda Smith moved to adjourn and Michelle Brown seconded; the meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m. The next scheduled CPMT meeting is Feb. 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
