OCS consultant reviews Enhanced Technical Assistance report, helps CPMT start Program Enhancement Plan

Courtney Sexton, Program Consultant with the Office of Children’s Services (OCS), attended the Feb. 26 Tazewell County CPMT meeting to review the Enhanced Technical Assistance (ETA) initial report and to assist members in beginning a Program Enhancement Plan (PEP).
Sexton walked the CPMT through the PEP template, explaining each column and the meaning of the Benchmark column, which she said "represents the progress or plans that are being made in response to the Strategy," and offered to assist with entering benchmarks. She took Strategy 1 under Recommendation 1 (family engagement and utilization review) and asked members for comments so she could record CPMT responses and target dates.
Members discussed family participation in FAPT meetings, provider attendance options (in‑person, phone, virtual) and scheduling barriers tied to provider availability. Sexton outlined recommended trainings: a 3–4 hour family engagement training and a 2‑hour FAPT/CPMT responsibilities training, and emphasized that CPMT is responsible for ensuring training completion and policy enforcement.
Sexton also advised on a case issue involving Minnick School attendance for case #10244505, suggesting the CPMT and county attorney consider adding contract language to pay educational invoices only for days the student attends. She asked the CPMT coordinator to follow up by email about contract edits and OCS assistance. Sexton said she will revise the PEP meeting schedule to allow CPMT members more time to complete input and will email new dates for future PEP work.
The CPMT continued working with Sexton after several members left mid‑meeting; Sexton will provide follow‑up support as CPMT members populate the PEP and establish benchmarks.
