CPMT reviews OCS reports, risk assessment and self‑assessment workbook; takes governance survey for June review

At the May 20 meeting, the CPMT reviewed several Office of Children's Services (OCS) deliverables and internal assessments intended to guide local CSA administration.
The coordinator presented an OCS Utilization Comparison Report showing average per‑diem cost, length of stay and net expenditure per child for Buchanan, Russell and Tazewell Counties, plus locality SPT listings. The CPMT also reviewed the FY2024 CSA Service Gap Survey follow‑up (submitted May 2) and the FY2025 Local Agency Annual Risk Assessment (submitted May 10). David Taylor noted several responses to the risk assessment were rated “slightly high” or “high,” which the group agreed warrants further examination.
Members received OCS Self‑Assessment Workbook Section I (Governance) covering ethics, professional and technical competence, organizational structure, assignment of authority, risk assessment, fiscal control activities, information, communication, and monitoring. The CPMT elected to take the workbook home to complete and return responses for collective review at the June 24 meeting. The coordinator also reported there were no OCS trainings listed on the June 2024 calendar and highlighted local Mental Health Awareness Month events posted by Cumberland Mountain Community Service Board.
These administrative reviews will guide next steps for addressing service gaps and mitigating identified risks ahead of the next CPMT meeting.
