Sheri Hale, DSS foster care supervisor, informed CPMT members that there have been six infant deaths in Tazewell County since November. Kim Hodge, CPS supervisor, is coordinating with local agencies, Clinch Valley Hospital, area doctors, law enforcement and other partners to provide education and training for families.
Hodge will work with Melissa Harper to launch a Safe Sleep campaign. Members noted several churches have donated pack‑and‑plays and other resources. Robin Jackson highlighted additional Health Department programs available to families and said the department has planted a community garden to provide fresh produce.
CPMT recorded these community announcements and identified coordination among agencies and community partners as the initial response; no formal vote or funding amount for the campaign was recorded in the minutes.
