Tazewell CPMT approves minutes, financial reports and funding; enters closed session to discuss cases

The coordinator reminded members that the PSSF fiscal year ended May 31, 2024 and that the June allotment reflects FY2025; she said June expenditures have been recorded and that the balance reflects year‑to‑date usage. Shelby Mitchell asked who may access Safe & Stable funds; the coordinator explained the program uses federal grant funding and that, per her understanding, Tazewell County DSS can access funds through CPS and foster care. Jeff Brintle suggested PSSF funds could be used by other agencies such as DJJ; the coordinator said she would clarify this at the next CPMT meeting.
Later in the meeting, Jeff Brintle moved that CPMT go into closed session to discuss cases involving Foster Care, CPS, Cumberland, Court Services and Tazewell County Schools and related funding; Brooke Mullins seconded and the motion carried. After the closed session the CPMT certified compliance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act; the certification vote was recorded as AYES 6, NAYS 0, ABSENT 3. Following certification, Jeff Brintle moved and David Taylor seconded approval of funding for the discussed cases; the motion was unanimously carried.
Roberta Boyd moved to return the meeting to open session; the meeting adjourned after a motion by David Taylor, seconded by Shelby Mitchell. The meeting record shows the session ended at 11:15 (transcript lists 'p.m.' but the meeting began at 10:00 a.m.; the corrected time is 11:15 a.m.). The next CPMT meeting is scheduled for August 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
