Michelle Brown, chair of the Tazewell County Community Policy and Management Team, presided over a Nov. 25 meeting where members approved targeted edits to the county’s CSA Local Policies and Procedure Manual and planned additional review.
The committee approved corrections on Page 10 to confidentiality and nondiscrimination language (removing the word “not” in the second paragraph and changing “it’s” to “its”), revised the FAPT materials timeline on Page 13 so documents must be received by the CSA coordinator “at a minimum no later than the Friday before the FAPT meeting,” and changed mandatory phrasing on Page 14 so the FAPT “may provide” materials to parents rather than stating it as required. Those motions were moved by Lori Gates-Addison and seconded by Jeff Brintle; the votes were unanimous.
CPMT members also corrected a phrasing error in the manual’s philosophy statement on Page 4 to read that services are “easily accessible to residents of the community, regardless of where they live.” The committee reviewed Section 1 (pages 1–23) and agreed to resume review of pages 24–39 at the Dec. 16, 2024 meeting (the meeting date was moved from Dec. 23 because of the Christmas holiday).
The CSA coordinator reviewed the Office of Children’s Services FAPT & CPMT roles and responsibilities training delivered Nov. 14, 2024 and said a training packet was included in the meeting materials for members who had not attended; CPMT members described the training as "very good and informative." The packet and the manual edits will be included with the county’s meeting records.
The actions are procedural edits to the local manual; no statutory changes or new programs were adopted at this meeting. The CPMT’s next scheduled meeting is Dec. 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
