County reports delayed ballot-on-demand printer, schedules L&A testing and flags 2026 equipment upgrade

The General Registrar told the Lunenburg County Electoral Board that the county’s ordered 'ballot on demand' printer has been delayed in shipping and no arrival date was available.
She also notified the board that logic-and-accuracy (L&A) testing for the remaining voting machines and ExpressVote machines is scheduled for Oct. 10 at 10:00 a.m. and that vendor ES&S has estimated the county will need to upgrade or replace its current voting equipment in 2026.
The Registrar said training will cover new procedures, including the handling of driver privilege cards, which are not acceptable as identification to vote because they include a restriction (number 9) that prevents them from scanning for the EPB system. The Registrar said this point must be emphasized in upcoming training for poll workers.
The board also discussed audits: a statewide post-election audit will cover the Senate contest and a possible congressional-district audit may or may not involve the county; training on the Elect training system is available.
The Registrar reported that early in-person voting and absentee mail-in voting are underway and that a minor Post Office issue was resolved.
The board adjourned at 6:06 p.m.
