Lunenburg County Planning Commission recommends approval of conditional use permit for Victoria service center with added conditions

The Lunenburg County Planning Commission on Dec. 7 recommended approval of Conditional Use Permit (CUP 10-23) for property at 1650 K-V Road in Victoria, allowing an auto service center, a convenience store providing gasoline service, a hot deli, truck-stop-style traveler services and U-Haul rental on three parcels totaling 14.243 acres in a B-1 Limited Business District.
Chairman James Tharpe opened the public hearing after a motion by Commissioner Pennington and a second by Commissioner Thompson. Applicant Gurdeep Singh and property owner Isaac Adedokun told the commission they intend to retain existing site features while adding the listed services; Singh said he would work with the Virginia Department of Transportation on roadway requirements and Adedokun said he has previously addressed concerns about trash trucks staging on the property. Singh characterized an anticipated mobile home as housing for employees.
The commission added two written conditions before recommending approval: a restriction on overnight parking of trash trucks and a condition addressing the proposed mobile home. Assistant County Attorney Drew DiStanislao and Clerk Taylor N. King were tasked with drafting the precise verbiage for both conditions. Commissioner Drummond moved to recommend approval of the CUP with those amended conditions; Commissioner Pennington seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
No members of the public spoke during Citizen Time or the hearing. The commission also noted that any VDOT permitting or requirements remain a separate coordination step and that the CUP recommendation will proceed per the commission’s usual review process.
