Lunenburg County Electoral Board appoints custodians, accepts new election officials and sets ballot orders for June primary

The Lunenburg County Electoral Board met April 8, 2025, and approved appointments, staffing changes and logistical plans for the June dual primary. Chairman Donna Dagner called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. and the board signed minutes of two prior meetings.
The board heard a voter-registration report from the general registrar, who said the March total of registered voters was 8,159, a decrease of three from February attributed to a statewide purge of inactive voters. The registrar noted that roughly 65% of county residents are registered to vote, which the registrar described as above the national average. On personnel matters, the registrar reported the hiring of a new part-time clerk, Barbara Wilson. The board also moved to appoint Richard Haag and Kenneth Saunders as equipment custodians for 2025; that motion passed. Separately, two people who completed online training—Samantha Burns and Sandra Burnett—were accepted as election officials after a board vote.
The board set its ballot-ordering plan for the June dual primary after reviewing historical turnout: it decided to order ballots equal to 40% of registered voters, allocating 20% for each party, with a ballot-on-demand printer available if supplies run low on Election Day. The registrar presented a list of proposed emergency polling places and the board authorized outreach to those sites to confirm willingness to serve as backups.
The board scheduled logic-and-accuracy testing: the CAP in-person machine is set for Friday, April 25 at 11:00 a.m., with an alternate of Tuesday, April 29 at 10:00 a.m. if test ballots are not ready; testing of the remaining machines will take place Tuesday, May 20 starting at 9:30 a.m. at the 300 Court Street storage facility.
The registrar gave an extensive administrative report on other items that did not require board action. The meeting adjourned at 5:42 p.m.
