Lunenburg County Electoral Board commits to computer upgrades, sets training dates for November election

The Lunenburg County Electoral Board on July 1 committed to replace office computers and finalized dates and times for training of election officials ahead of the November general election, the board’s registrar reported.
Chairman Donna Dagner called the meeting to order at 10:08 a.m. and the board reviewed and signed the minutes of the previous meeting. The Registrar said that, now that the new fiscal year has begun, the board made a commitment to purchase new computers to bring the registrar’s office to current standards.
The Registrar also said new email addresses for Electoral Board members had been instituted and tested to comply with Elect and VEBA guidelines and that members should be able to receive messages at the new addresses without further action. The Registrar reported the board remained in contention for a $35,000 cybersecurity grant and expected to hear word soon.
On election operations, the board determined the full schedule of training phases for the November general election; the Registrar will publish the schedule and distribute it to all election officials who will work the election. The Deputy Registrar volunteered to prepare food for the mass training sessions, and the board accepted the offer.
The Registrar reported that abstracts of votes for the June primary were accepted by the State. The Secretary was instructed to sign and seal copies of the abstracts and distribute them to the proper parties.
The actions recorded in the minutes were administrative: approval and signing of prior minutes, a fiscal commitment to purchase new computers, adoption of a training schedule, and routing the state-accepted abstracts for signature and distribution. No final award of the cybersecurity grant was reported at the meeting.
