Commissioner Wood asked whether Cayer intended to amend the 4-H budget line to match the prior fiscal year. Commissioner Lorenson addressed social media commentary about the board and compared programming levels in Ironwood Area Schools with those elsewhere in the county. Commissioners discussed referring the matter to the Finance Committee for further consideration; Commissioner Matonich said the simplest step would be to vote on the position. No motion to change the position or budget was made, and no action was taken.
During public comment, members of the public stressed a lack of volunteers and said that without more volunteers 4-H cannot offer additional clubs.
The board did not schedule a vote on the coordinator position during the Oct. 8 meeting. The meeting adjourned at 5:29 p.m.
