Gogebic County approves claims, cattle barn window project and pays fair electrical invoice

At its Dec. 17 meeting in Bessemer, the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners approved routine financial reports and several capital or facility expenditures.

On a motion by Commissioner Lorenson supported by Commissioner Yon, the board approved payment of claims, pre-paid items and credit card charges; the minutes record a roll-call vote of seven in favor and none opposed. The board also approved the trial balance and the General Fund revenue and expenditure control report and placed both on file by unanimous voice vote.

The board approved a proposal from Angelo Lupino to remove and replace windows on the main entrance mezzanine of the county cattle barn at a cost of $40,992.10; the roll-call vote for that item was 7–0. Separately, the board agreed to assist the Friends of the Fair by covering an invoice from the City of Wakefield for electrical work at the fairgrounds totaling $6,366.00; that vote was also 7–0.

Minutes do not record competing bids, contract terms beyond the single proposal, or long-term maintenance commitments tied to the work. The board’s recorded votes show unanimous approval of the listed financial and capital items.
