Gogebic County board approves credit-card limit increases, software cloud migration and courthouse repairs

The Gogebic County Board of Commissioners on June 25 approved a package of financial and facilities actions, including a credit-card authorization and limit increase, a software migration contract, and multiple repair contracts.
Treasurer Lisa Hewitt requested a $5,000 credit card for Trial Court Administrator Damon Kendall and asked the board to raise existing county credit-card limits from $2,000 to $5,000. The board approved the request by unanimous voice vote.
On software, the board approved a contract with BS&A to migrate county software to the cloud at a total proposed cost of $118,870. The payment schedule recorded in the contract: $27,000 payable in fiscal year 2025/26, the remaining balance in 2026/27, and an ongoing annual expense of $43,870 starting in fiscal year 2027/28. Commissioner Lorenson moved the contract approval; the motion passed 7-0 on roll call.
The board also approved a letter of support for Gogebic County Transit’s application to the MDOT FTA Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Competitive Program.
On capital and maintenance work, the board voted to accept a quote from Angelo Luppino to replace the courthouse parking lot (roll-call approval) and approved a $12,300 quote from Aili Custom Concrete to repair the east-side courthouse steps. Earlier in the meeting the board approved a budget amendment to record $18,575 in Federal National Crime Improvement Program revenue and appropriate the same amount to Data Processing/Information Technology office equipment; that amendment passed on a 7-0 roll call. Claims and pre-paid bills were also approved by roll call (7-0).
All listed contracts and budget amendments were approved by recorded roll-call votes with seven votes in favor and none opposed. The board did not vote on the UPCAP 2026 Annual Implementation Plan for Services to the Elderly; that resolution was tabled pending further information from UPCAP.
