Resident urges action on Kincheloe standing water; road manager seeks Army Corps help

Andrea Abbott, a Kinross-area resident, told the Chippewa County Road Commission on March 13 that she appreciates the work of county road crews and asked for information about timing and operations during the spring thaw to address standing water issues in Kincheloe.
"Chippewa County Roads [are] being the best maintained roads in comparison to neighboring counties," Abbott told the board. She asked specifically about standing water and the county’s operational timing to address it during thaw conditions.
Manager Laitinen responded that the county has unclear conveyance documentation about who owns the stormwater drainage system serving the Kincheloe area. He said staff is working to schedule a meeting with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to identify needs and pursue funding to address the system.
The board did not take formal action at the meeting other than to record the public comment and note that staff will pursue coordination with the Corps. No timeline for the Corps meeting or funding commitment was provided in the minutes.
