Chippewa County Road Commission approves $396,450 gravel-crushing contract, $24,950 M-221 repair and authorizes payroll and vouchers

At its March 13 meeting the Chippewa County Road Commission approved payroll of $250,646.38, vouchers of $711,721.54, awarded a $396,450 gravel-crushing contract to Brow and a $24,950 M-221 repair contract to Norris Contracting. Motions were made by Commissioner Moser and seconded by Chairman Gagnon.
The Chippewa County Road Commission voted March 13 to approve payroll of $250,646.38 and vouchers totaling $711,721.54 and to award two road-work contracts.
The board accepted a sole bid of $396,450 from Brow for the 2025 gravel crushing contract and awarded the work to Brow after a motion by Commissioner Moser, seconded by Chairman Jeremy Gagnon; the motion carried. The commission later awarded the M-221 repair contract to Norris Contracting, the low bidder at $24,950, following Manager Laitinen’s recommendation; that motion was also moved by Commissioner Moser and seconded by Chairman Gagnon and carried.
The board additionally approved the regular meeting minutes from Feb. 27, 2025. The payroll and vouchers were authorized to be paid from the County Road Fund “subject to audit,” as recorded in the meeting minutes.
No roll-call vote totals were recorded in the minutes; each action was recorded as "motion carried." The bids list included Payne and Dolan as a bidder on the M-221 repair; Brow was the sole gravel-crushing bidder.
The commission’s next regular meeting was set for Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
