Gogebic County board appoints Doug Muskett as managed assigned counsel coordinator

Administrator Juliane Giackino told the board that two candidates were interviewed for the position and that Muskett agreed to accept the role. The board voted by unanimous voice to accept Hougaboom’s resignation and appoint Muskett effective Feb. 23, 2026.
The position coordinates assigned counsel services under the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission processes for Ontonagon and Gogebic counties, according to the communication placed on file by the board. The minutes do not list a salary or contract amount for the remainder of the appointment.
