At its Jan. 14 meeting, the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners unanimously reappointed David Pawlak to the Gogebic County Transit Authority after receiving his application for reappointment.
The board also approved a resolution to appoint Sean Hoye as magistrate after Trial Court Administrator Damon Kendall introduced Hoye and asked the board to adopt the resolution; the board authorized signatures by unanimous voice vote.
Separately, Chairman Dan Siirila opened nominations for vice-chairman. Commissioner Lorenson nominated Pete Matonich; Commissioner Cayer supported the nomination and the board closed nominations and cast a unanimous ballot electing Matonich vice-chairman for 2026.
The board also received notice from the U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs regarding a non-gaming land acquisition application and voted to place that communication on file.
