EUPTA says MDOT awarded $125,000 mobility-manager grant; board moves to hire before funding starts

The Eastern Upper Peninsula Transportation Authority said on July 1 that it has been awarded a competitive, federally funded Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) grant for $125,000 to support a Mobility Manager position.
Director Paramski told the board that "the grant is for $125,000 which includes funding wage and benefits, office space rental, travel, and etc." Funding becomes active on Oct. 1, 2025, and the authority plans to begin the hiring process before that date so the new hire can fill Kathy's current position and be cross-trained to cover three office roles.
The board discussed using the grant funds for wages, benefits and office costs but did not record specific salary figures or a hire date in the minutes. Director Paramski noted MDOT sets specific grant guidelines that EUPTA must follow.
Board members moved unanimously to start hiring and related staffing steps. The minutes show the board approved motions to start the process for a full-time administrative assistant and to create a temporary, part-time administrative position to provide phone coverage during July–September.
