Charlevoix County commissioners approve December expenditures, accept donations and authorize contracts

The Charlevoix County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 14 approved a series of resolutions including a monthly expenditures resolution that authorized payment of December invoices totaling $583,017.91.
The Board accepted a $15,000 donation from Bethany Lutheran Church to the Charlevoix County Commission on Aging to support food program supplies and directed county administration to send a thank-you letter. The Board reappointed Phil Kessler to the Sanitary Code Board of Appeals.
The Board authorized an agreement for Medical Examiner facility use with Spectrum Health Hospitals (Corewell Health) and adopted Whiting Park beach rules recommended by the Parks Director. The IT Department was authorized to purchase a network storage device from CDWG not to exceed $26,862.60 with funds to come from the IT budget. The Board also approved a professional services agreement with Beckett & Raeder for a $38,504 update of the county five-year Recreation Plan and authorized Maner Costerisan to perform an assessment of the county’s fiscal activities and risk-management processes.
The Board set a closeout public hearing for the CDBG Emergency Generator Grant on Jan. 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at 13513 Division Street in Charlevoix and provided contact information (Sienna Wenz) for inspection of the grant documents. All recorded roll-call votes on the listed resolutions were 6-0 in favor.
No contested votes or amendments were recorded for the items approved at this meeting. Several items were approved on the consent agenda, and the meeting concluded without additional public comment.
