Benzie County backs $491,000 in trail grants and approves letter supporting Crystal Shores casino

Separately, the board authorized a letter of support for the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians regarding the Crystal Shores Casino operation in Benzie County and authorized the chair to sign the letter; that motion passed unanimously among present commissioners.
County officials said match dollars will be provided by Friends of the Betsie Valley Trail; no further funding commitments from the county were recorded in the minutes. Public comment was opened and closed with no speakers during the discussion of these items.
