The Barry County Board of Commissioners voted Jan. 13 to approve $6,756,927.12 in prepaid invoices, $261,416.74 in claims previously approved by the county administrator, and $145.60 in mileage reimbursements for commissioners.
The board approved the prepaid invoices on a motion by Commissioner Jon Smelker, supported by Bob Teunessen. The claims were approved on a motion by Commissioner Mike Callton, supported by Bruce Campbell. Commissioners Marsha Bassett, Mike Callton, Bruce Campbell, Catherine Getty, David Jackson, Jon Smelker and Bob Teunessen voted yes on all three motions; Commissioner David Hatfield was recorded as absent.
The claims had been approved administratively by the county administrator on Dec. 30, 2025, according to the meeting record. No public comment was recorded on the payment items.
The board’s consent agenda also included approval of meeting minutes from Dec. 16, 2025, and Jan. 2, 2026, which passed on a motion by Smelker supported by Callton. The meeting record shows the consent votes were unanimous among commissioners present.
The board adjourned at 9:43 a.m.
