County receives $100,000 MSHDA award for home repairs; planners working on data-center standards

County Administrator Eric Zuzga told the board that Barry County received an additional $100,000 from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) that must be expended by May for home repairs in the county. He urged interested board members to contact his office about switching to digital board packets to reduce costs and announced that Deputy County Administrator/Finance Director Luella Dennison will retire at the end of February.
Zuzga said Planning and Zoning staff are preparing standards for a required county Data Center Ordinance and that the County Planning Commission has completed a final draft of updated county ordinances; those drafts will be distributed to local municipalities and the board for input. Vice-Chair David Hatfield noted that a proposed 425 agreement with the City of Hastings and Rutland Charter Township remains under review and that Meijer will present a draft site plan to the Planning Commission in April.
Zuzga also previewed that IT Director Matt Ward will introduce a new Security Analyst to the board at the Feb. 24 meeting and that facilities-related updates, including a security subcommittee assessment and a proposed update to the 2015 Facilities Master Plan, are forthcoming.
