Ontonagon County authorizes $210,000 CDBG RLF application for Superior Outdoor Maintenance & Services LLC

The Ontonagon County Board of Commissioners on May 6, 2025 opened a special public hearing and then unanimously authorized the county chair to sign a Part 2 application for $210,000 from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) to support Superior Outdoor Maintenance & Services LLC.
The public hearing was opened by motion; applicant representatives Sam Lanctot and Mike Heinrichs spoke in support of the project, describing plans to use the loan for equipment purchase and working capital within Ontonagon County. No public comments were recorded at the hearing.
By motion of Bourdeau supported by Store the board adopted Resolution #2025-03 and recorded a 5-0 roll call vote to authorize the application. The resolution states that Northern Initiatives, Inc. reviewed and approved the application on April 3, 2025; that the project location meets zoning requirements and is consistent with the County of Ontonagon Comprehensive Plan; and that the project is expected to employ at least 51% low- to moderate-income persons. The county also advertised the application in The Ontonagon Herald and held the required public informational meeting on May 6, 2025.
The board adjourned the special hearing to the call of the chair at 4:15 p.m.
