Ontonagon County approves marine grant match, license-plate-reader trial and levy certifications

At its June 17 session the Ontonagon County Board of Commissioners approved several items affecting county finance and public-safety operations.
A motion to formally provide the county’s 25% match for a FY2025 Marine grant carried on a 5-0 roll call vote. The board also approved the undersheriff’s request to participate in a 60-day free trial of license-plate-reader (LPR) cameras that may be available through the Stonegarden grant, on a Nousiainen/Bourdeau motion recorded as 5-0.
The board approved a Timberline Land Surveying remonumentation proposal for $19,800 covering 11 corners in Bergland. Commissioners also approved county tax forms (L-4029 and L-4046) to levy summer and winter taxes and certified the 2025 taxable values, authorizing the summer tax levy.
The board adopted Budget Amendment No. 2025-03 moving $61,958.55 from a COVID/CARES account into courthouse building repair and maintenance (account numbers and line items were listed in the motion).
