Special meeting: Ontonagon County moves ARPA funds to cover final jail window payment

At a Sept. 4, 2025 special budget meeting the Ontonagon County Board of Commissioners approved Budget Amendment No. 2025-13 for the General Fund, increasing spending authorization for COVID/CARES and jail renovation accounts by $45,776.67.
The amendment transfers previously obligated ARPA (COVID/CARES) funds to permit final payment on jail window renovations that were obligated on Dec. 31, 2024, according to the amendment request form submitted by Stacy C. Preiss, Chief Administrative Officer.
The motion to approve the amendment was made by Commissioner Nousiainen, supported by Commissioner Store and carried on a recorded 5-0 vote. The minutes state the amendment brought expenditures and revenue adjustments into balance with previously obligated ARPA funds.
