The Ontonagon County Board of Commissioners approved several public-safety items at its Aug. 19 meeting, all carried on unanimous roll call votes.
The board authorized advertising for bids to sell a 2015 Dodge Ram patrol pickup and a 2021 Ford Interceptor. It also approved virtual training for seven officers (including the sheriff and undersheriff) at a one-time fee of $350 ($50 per deputy). The motions to advertise and to approve training passed on roll call votes recorded in the minutes.
Separately, the board approved the purchase of a FN America patrol carbine rifle for $1,020 and authorized enrollment in an automatic car-wash package for the sheriff's fleet that will be billed monthly.
Motions were made by commissioners as recorded in the minutes (advertising motion approved by a 5-0 vote; rifle and car-wash approvals carried on 5-0 roll call votes). No public objections were recorded in the minutes.
