Commissioner Chad A. Blessinger announced the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration responded to the county’s request and awarded Dubois County CARES the opportunity to participate in the Opioid Settlement Dollar‑for‑Dollar Match Prevention Initiative. The contract term will run July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028; the reimbursable grant amount has not yet been specified.
Blessinger said the county will use County Opioid Funds as the required 50/50 match and has committed $100,000 to the grant. Auditor Sandra L. Morton provided information on opioid restricted and unrestricted fund balances and the board asked staff to review funding requests from local programs including Operation Mind, Body & Soul and Safe Haven for discussion at the next meeting.
No allocation decision for specific programs was finalized on Nov. 17; the board directed staff to prepare details for a future vote.
