Solid-waste district to raise trash-sticker price Jan. 1; larger-item fee hikes to be proposed in December

District Director Carla Striegel-Winner told the Dubois County Solid Waste Management District board on Oct. 20 that the cost of trash stickers will increase from $1.50 to $2.00 per sticker effective Jan. 1, 2026.
Striegel-Winner also said she will formally request at the board’s Dec. 15 meeting that the board approve increases to user fees: raising the large-item fee from $12.00 to $16.00 per item and the medium-item fee from $6.00 to $8.00 per item, per board approval. She characterized the December request as a proposal to be voted on at that meeting, not an immediate board action on Oct. 20.
The board did not take a formal vote on the proposed large- and medium-item fee changes at the Oct. 20 meeting; the discussion in the minutes is recorded as staff notification and a planned future action. No additional financial analysis or public-comment period was recorded in these minutes on the potential fee adjustments.
If approved in December, the sticker and fee changes would take effect Jan. 1, 2026, according to the district’s meeting notes.
